Ian Woodman, Idaho resident, says that although there are many great sports in his home state, Colorado and Washington are the home of his top picks.

If you ask Ian Woodman, Idaho is a great place to live and the perfect spot to raise his family. One thing that Ian Woodman can’t say: Idaho is home to his favorite sports teams. Fortunately for him, Washington boasts the Gonzaga Bulldogs, and at just a little over half an hour away, it’s close enough for him! The team, part of Gonzaga University’s Athletic Department, is a local favorite.

According to Ian Woodman, Idaho claims Gonzaga as their hometown team, especially in Post Falls, where Woodman co-owns a successful tax debt resolution firm, Instant Tax Solutions. He has made a point to teach his children about sportsmanship, using the Bulldogs as an example. The Bulldogs even host a youth camp, explains Ian Woodman. Idaho and Washington residents, as well as others, can sign their children up for a 2 day training program, where the kids are taught basketball by some of Gonzaga’s best players.

Aside from college basketball, pro sports also hold Ian Woodman’s attention. Idaho falls somewhat short here as well but Woodman had found a team to root for in North Carolina – #1 NCAA team, Duke. Duke holds a special place in Ian Woodman’s heart; this Idaho father bet on Duke in a March Madness contest in 2010. He won the grand prize of $21,000 – enough money to take his children and close friends and family to Disney World. Ian Woodman says Idaho is his home, but Disney stole his heart. He thanks Duke for winning that year, and says that his children are grateful to have had the opportunity to take this once-in-a-lifetime trip.

According to Ian Woodman, Idaho’s proximity to the rest of the Western US offers ample opportunity to travel for games, which is fortunate since he also admires football. As a Broncos fan for three decades, Denver is just a one day drive or a two hour flight, says Ian Woodman. Idaho based Woodman has had the chance to sneak away 9 times for Bronco’s games. John Elway, says Idaho’s Ian Woodman, is an amazing player and the best quarterback he’s ever seen.

To be fair, points out Ian Woodman, Idaho has many great sports team including the Boise Hawks baseball team. Also, says Ian Woodman, Idaho Steelheads are a popular ice hockey team, winning 2 major championships since 1996. There is also an NBA Development basketball team, notes Ian Woodman. The Idaho Stampede farm team has produced players such as Lance Allred of the Indiana Pacers and former Atlanta Hawk Spud Webb.
